NaNoDrawMo 8:
This was based on a photo of a World of Warcraft Night Elf cosplayer. I’m really pretty unhappy with the way this came out, BUT I had to push myself way out of my comfort zone to make it, so in that regard I suppose it is a NaNoDrawMo success.
I have never been a painter. I like the sharp, unambiguous lines of pens and pencils. Paint doesn’t work the same way. It’s fuzzy and blobby and… analog.
Pencil-to-paint requires some serious brain rewiring — which I started to feel happening toward the end, but not in time to make this one look the way I wanted. I guess that means I should keep at it. I’ve got 42 more drawings to go, after all…
But I need to get back to basics. Value, tone, and all that boring stuff.
